Marielle’s Kimono

MARIELLE is one of my dolls who has had many different looks over time. Here she sports her black wig and lavender eyes. She loves purple, so I kept that in mind when choosing fabrics for her kimono. The under-kimono is a pale lavender with cherry blossoms, while the over-kimono features brighter colours in its pink, yellow, and teal florals. The kimono is set off by a bright teal obi. That’s one of the thing I love most about these Asian prints — combining the rich colours and patterns.

These photos were taken at Kariya Japanese Garden in Mississauga, Ontario, during cherry blossom season.
